Android P (9.0)
The next version of Android i.e, 9.0 !! Well, this seems early to talk about as most of the phones haven't received Android Oreo (8.0) yet.
But, Google has released the first developers preview of their upcoming major android OS update which is expected to release later this year.
Thanks to Google, we are able to see some major improvements and tweaks that are arriving soon.
New Material Design:
In the developer preview we can see changes to the UI with a refreshed notification panel and the settings menu. The new design seems to look like a bit of the TouchWiz UI on the Samsung phones, but it looks kinda cool though.

Here's the new settings menu:
Smart Notifications:
Now users can directly reply and view previous conversations without even opening the application.
This new notification style will also give developers the option to add quick replies, similar to the system currently seen in Google Allo and the reply bot in Google's Reply app.
Inbuilt Support for a notch:
With smartphones moving towards bezel-less displays, the trend for the notch (as on the iPhone X) can be seen on recently launched smartphones, the notch is important as it is where the front facing camera and the sensors are put to make the screen-to-body ratio less as of now. So, google has added inbuilt support for the notch and making it easier for developers to play with the notch.
This will help developers create UI around that notch. This means full-screen apps with buttons on the sides will be able to actively avoid those notch areas in the display.
These are not for the final release of Android P, as it is the first developer preview, many changes could be made and new features could be added in future releases.
Android P is expected to release around August-September 2018.
